On the Methow For Fall Steelhead

Upper Columbia Tribs open September 8th 2010

Methow River and Wenatchee River open earlier than ever before since pre closures in the '90's.

I am looking forward to this increased fishing opportunity, with larger run size comes better fishing , now we will get to fish a longer season. I can only speculate that we will get to see the steelhead  transform through the longer season from aggressive killers to trouty biters in three quick months. One thing I really look forward to is the longer dry line swing time, with an early September opening the fish will be rising to the surface longer. We also have a new regulation for the bottom four miles, a "no fishing from floating device rule" better for me as now it will reduce the boat traffic and the higher water will reduce the wade fishing efficiency.
