Starting my love of fly fishing at age 7 while learning to tie flies with my Grandfather, I followed him for 15 years while he took me along on every fishing and hunting trip possible, even getting me out of school two weeks a year to chase Coho and Chinook Salmon in the Straights of Juan De Fuca from Port Angeles to Neah Bay. My grandfather was my mentor and confidant in all things growing up as an outdoors man and later a fishing guide. Not one day goes by with out thoughts of him and the wonderful passions he instilled in me at a young age.
My goal now as a full time fly fishing guide is to bring to you the adventures in angling that have been such a wonderful part of my life. I have chased and caught steelhead in over forty different rivers from Northern California to S.E. Alaska, they are the center of my guide life. Since I happen live in Washington it only makes sense that my first steelhead where pursued here in my home state, in fact the Methow River is where I was first introduced to the power and exhilaration of these fantastic game fish. I spent fifteen years chasing steelhead as a member of the 10% in Puget Sound and Coastal Rivers. I knew then what I know now that the Olympic Peninsula is the epicenter for winter/spring Steelhead, they have the largest average size out of the entire coast from AK to CA and strongest runs by far, enduring the wrath of Politics and Commercial fishing to come in strong and plentiful. It is these fish that are the cornerstone of my guiding and fishing career. I still get up to the Methow and often pass the very spot where my journey begun at age 13, it is a molment of reflection every time. I manage a short two month season in Fall on the Methow and venture down to the Klickitat and Wenatchee on occasion. But the Methow holds my attention for historic reasons and I will never leave it.
Other than Steelhead my service is consumed by Trout in Montana, Bones and Permit in the Yucatan and the occasional float down an Alaska river for a little adventure in Bear watching and rainbow angling.
Whether its a trout fishing trip to Montana or a hosted trip to somewhere exotic I promise to pass on a little of my Grandfathers wisdom and passion for the sport.
Thank You and fish always. Jeff Brazda
